I'm handling drobbins' Partitioning in action mini-series, files will be posted later. Part 1: http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-partplan.html Part 2: http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-partplan4.html Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Created attachment 64624 [details] part1-rc1 I've had to make some substantial fixes to the document. The original part 1 on IBM had numerous errors. There's a whole subsection that didn't exist (6b) despite numerous references to it by drobbins. So I added that, after figuring out why there where some unlabeled instructions--these seem to be 6b. Please review this part carefully. At first I thought the original section 6 (on IBM) was mistakenly duplicated, but then it seemed that this was another set of instructions entirely, so I took that into account in the .xml file. The original article was quite a mess. It was full of dead-end (and outdated!) hyperlinks and undocumented sections and procedures. So I added a couple points of clarification, so that users know what the heck is going on.
Created attachment 64644 [details] part1-rc2 A few <path> and <title> fixes.
Created attachment 64650 [details] part2-rc1 The the last part in the "Partitioning in action" series.
Do you plan on doing the following two as well? http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-partitiontip.html http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-swaptip2.html
(In reply to comment #4) > Do you plan on doing the following two as well? Yes, as soon as I have regular internet access again--call it a week from now, at most. (I think.)
Created attachment 66035 [details] part2-rc2 contains links to the soon-to-be-appearing companion documents mentioned in the "Resources" section: "Partition planning" and "Maximum swappage".
As neysx requested, the other two documents mentioned in this series, "Maximum swappage" (Bug 102652) and "Partition planning tips" (Bug 102666), have been added, so this series is now complete.
Created attachment 66039 [details] part1-rc3 Contains updated links to the XMLified docs in "Resources."
All in CVS. Thanks a lot.
