Description Dan Armak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-03-07 15:19:35 UTC
The net-www/htdig http search & indexing engine is used for seraching the kde help system and the
kdevelop documentation.

Our current ebuid works but the following things are missing/broken:
- Working default configuration. Currently user needs to configure manually and that's a bug bother
just to get kde docs searches. That includes a default htdig.conf and the generation of a search
database as needed.
- Install into /usr. Currently a small part goes into /usr/local (why???).
- Get new upstream version.
- Get new maintainer ;-)

:)

Well, I suppose I had this coming :-) It might take a few days before I look at it though. I don't know too much about htdig itself and will first fix all my other open issues.

I'm sorry, but I haven't found the time for this and probably won't in the near future. You'd best
assign it to somebody else.

OK,

I have upgraded it and it is in portage. It seems to work fine. I am not sure
how to go about initialising a default thingy for KDE stuff, though.

Meanwhile, I am handing this bug to woodchip for a while, because I have made
use of his apache sub-filesystem in installing this package.

Woodchip, please have a look at this and tell me if I am abusing/misusing
/home/httpd

Also, what changes might I need to be more in line with your new/upcoming apache?

thanks

um, i'll fix this up by syncing it with mandrake's 3.2b package;
they have a bunch of nice-looking patches for it.

i dont have a big priority on this, and i'm definately *not*
volunteering to maintain this package :)

looks like seemant has fixed this.
