Description Christian Parpart (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-28 18:15:21 UTC
I just can't emerge gcc4.1, which I'd like to have to to test sources against
it and alike;

however, this is the (more important) output that that occurs:

stage1/xgcc -Bstage1/ -B/usr/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ -c   -m64 -march=athlon64
-O2 -pipe -fprofile-use -freorder-blocks-and-partition -DIN_GCC   -W -Wall
-Wwrite-strings -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes -pedantic
-Wno-long-long -Wno-variadic-macros -Wold-style-definition     -DHAVE_CONFIG_H

neglected to post `emerge info` like the bug report told you to

Comment 3 Mark Loeser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-30 17:06:59 UTC
Did you try it with just CFLAGS="-pipe"?
Comment 4 Christian Parpart (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-30 17:11:46 UTC
huh? no? but I can give it a try anyway ;)

have you anything back in your mind about, or why duo ask?
Comment 5 Mark Loeser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-30 17:15:34 UTC
Its still a beta compiler, there are probably going to be code generation bugs
from optimizations still.
Comment 6 Christian Parpart (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-30 17:38:42 UTC
Well - UNFORTUNATELY - this happens also when having CFLAGS="-pipe" set :(

Any other ideas?

p.s.: who else is able to compile this?
Comment 7 Mark Loeser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-30 17:50:51 UTC
I haven't tried it on AMD64 yet, but regardless we aren't supporting any gcc-4
compiler yet. Please report the bug upstream.
Comment 8 Christian Parpart (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-30 18:03:49 UTC
nah, okay, thx anyway;

besides, below follows an extract from the gcc-devel list ;-)
