I think postgresql's dependency on libpq should use ~ instead of =, e.g. ~dev- db/libpq-8.0.3. As a result of the recent r1 releases, libpq will be upgraded and then downgraded when running emerge -uD world on unstable arch. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
fixed. thanks.
Please reopen, as I still see this on my machine. I see this across different minor versions, so it's a little bit different, but basically the same problem of up-/downgrading cycles. It is up-/downgrading libpq for some time now between versions 8.0.7 and 8.1.x. I believe the cause is these lines in the postgresql ebuilds (I have version 8.0.7 of postgres installed): /usr/portage/dev-db/postgresql/postgresql-8.0.7.ebuild:24: =dev-db/libpq-8.0.7* /usr/portage/dev-db/postgresql/postgresql-8.0.7.ebuild:38: =dev-db/libpq-8.0.7* emerge info: Portage 2.1_pre4-r1 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.4.5, glibc-2.3.6-r2, 2.6.14-suspend2-r7 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.14-suspend2-r7 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.70GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre16 dev-lang/python: 2.4.2-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.17 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=pentium-m -Os -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium-m -Os -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirrors.sec.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/gentoo/ http://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/gentoo/" LANG="de_DE@euro" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1" LINGUAS="de" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.de.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X Xaw3d a52 aac aalib acpi alsa apache2 arts audiofile avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bluetooth bmp bzip2 bzlib cdparanoia cdr crypt css cups curl dbus dio directfb divx4linux dri dts dv dvd dvdr eds emboss encode esd ethereal expat fbcon ffmpeg firefox flac foomaticdb fortran ftp gd gdbm geoip gif glut gnome gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml hal icq idn imagemagick imlib innodb ipv6 jabber java javascript jpeg jpeg2k kde kdeenablefinal lcms libcaca libg++ libwww lm_sensors mad mikmod mime mmx mmxext mng mono motif mozilla mp3 mpeg mysql mysqli ncurses nls nptl nsplugin ocaml ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pcmcia pcre pdf pdflib perl php pic pie png posix postgres ppds python qt quicktime readline real recode ruby samba scanner sdl sharedmem shorten slang smartcard sockets spell sqlite sse sse-filters sse2 ssl svg svga tcltk tcpd tetex theora threads tidy tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb userlocales vcd vorbis wifi win32codecs wmf wxwindows xine xml2 xmms xosd xpm xsl xv xvid zlib elibc_glibc kernel_linux linguas_de userland_GNU" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, LC_ALL
