Ever since updating to the new 6.0b version of netscape-flash, my Mozilla crashes at least two or three times a day without error message...I finally tracked it down to flash animations attempting to play sounds...this is under kde 3.0.4 with or without artsd... Reverting back to version 5.0.51 solves the problem...perhaps just a gentoo 1.2 specific error?
> Reverting back to version 5.0.51 solves the problem...perhaps just a gentoo 1.2 > specific error? No, I don't think so! I have gentoo 1.2 and gentoo 1.4_rc1 with mozilla-1.0.1-r2 installed! It crashes on both systems with the new netscape-flash-6.0b! On gentoo 1.4_rc1 no version of netscape-flash works for me! Best regards, Ming-Che
5.0.50 works fine here at least with 1.4 and moz-1.0.1-r2.
I have mozilla-1.2.1-r1 and netscape-flash-6.0b. Mozilla crashes every time it tries to view a flash animation. Earlier versions of netscape-flash do the same.
http://cvs.gentoo.org/~azarah/mozilla-flash.png That is mozilla-1.2.1 with netscape-flash-5.0.50 compiled with gcc-3.2.1 ...
I have exactly the same but mozilla crashes as soon as it's finished drawing the background to http://www/joecartoon.com/pages/home/. I compiled mozilla like this: CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O -pipe" emerge =net-www/mozilla-1.2.1-r1 $ gcc --version gcc (GCC) 3.2.1 * net-www/netscape-flash Latest version available: 6.0b Latest version installed: 5.0.50
Following the advice of Noberasco Michele <michele.noberasco@tiscali.it> on gentoo-user, I unmerged mozilla, manually wiped /usr/lib/mozilla and reemerged mozilla. Now it works fine. There was stuff left in /usr/lib/mozilla after unmerging and that must have caused my problems.
Should be related to the libcompat issue we had. PLease update lib-compat to version 1.1, and it should be fixed.
