This is a feature rich dvb plugin for xmms that allows you to hear dvb radio streams without running vdr. It is able to receive epg data for the channels that support it and it can record MPEG streams and cut them through silence detection. This is a must for everyone who has a dvb card in his workstation! Regards Ruben taken from http://xmms-dvb.sourceforge.net/about.html: If you have a DVB-S (Digital Video Broadcast / Satellite) PCI adapter supported by the driver from LinuxTV in your Linux system, this will allow you to receive (i.e. listen to) and record audio streams from this adapter. The incoming MPEG-1 layer II audio data is decompressed and fed to XMMS which can then in turn process it any way it pleases. At the same time the plugin can optionally write the original MPEG stream to file for archiving or further processing at a later time. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Created attachment 64233 [details] xmms-dvb-0.5.0.ebuild Please put this ebuild into: ${PORTDIR}/media-plugins/xmms-dvb
Created attachment 75482 [details] sample channel playlist for Astra 19E This is a channel list with about 130 Radio Stations from Astra 19E. Just open with xmms and the dvb plugin enabled and enjoy listening.
I am going to add and maintain this ebuild. Nevertheless I am no maintainer of the sound herd, may I add the sound-herd as fallback?
Matthias you're of course welcome to taking care of this if you're interesting, but I would point that xmms is really becoming a bit of trouble, so all the remaining plugins in maintainer-needed just got a WONTFIX all over them. The suggestion is to port the plugin to audacious (that's the fork of the fork of xmms and it's the most similar thing), so that it runs with a package that has an upstream still.
Closing this one with WONTFIX. It can nevertheless be put in the sound-Overlay when it is established. btw. the ebuild is available from the gentoo.de-overlay.
