Description Charles Goodwin 2002-10-31 05:26:33 UTC
"However, to save some time, lookup the Chipset name of your soundcard(s) on the
ALSA Soundcard Matrix."

This is incorrect. The chipset name will usually return the error 'unknown
soundcard' upon attempting to emerge.

Instead, the appropriate variable to put in the env ALSA_CARDS is the name after
the 'module' argument in INSTALL link relevant to your soundcard.

eg for mine this is 'sbawe' as opposed to 'emu8k' as the Gentoo Linux Alsa Guide
would have me believe.

I fixed this in CVS.
