Hi, I posted this to the mailing list and was asked to post it here. I just finished a text based installer for gentoo. It's written in shell and I have tested it to a limited extent (it always works for me). I was wondering if people would be interested in it. Cheers, Scott
Created attachment 5097 [details] text based gentoo installer CD
Forgot to mention the file attached is a tar.bz2. There are two shell scripts in it. functions.sh and install.sh. To test put both install.sh and functions.sh in '/' on the rescue image on the CD you want to test with. I used vmware to test it. Todo is to make it accept a few options: --auto-install FILE A file that basiaclly gives all the information the script needs to install Gentoo. --help Dislpay this help. --noclear Do not clear the screen when creating menus. Also Todo is to clean up the code a bit and make a generic menu function (almost done) for menu display.
Gack, bugs assigned to release@ have gotten ignored; I'll assign this one to me.

also, http://glis.sf.net/
i'd say GLIS
not really related to us anymore since we now have an installer project, re-assigning
Probably not needed due to the much more advanced installer project in the works
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux". I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers, this is the only reasonable way to do this.
