Description Grzegorz Kulewski 2005-06-06 09:04:59 UTC
I installed new Gentoo 2005 system. Then installed tetex and then latex-beamer.
Everything went OK. But now when I do emerge -pvu --deep world I am getting:

Calculating world dependencies ...done!
[blocks B ] dev-tex/pgf (is blocking app-text/tetex-3.0-r2)
[blocks B ] dev-tex/xcolor (is blocking app-text/tetex-3.0-r2)
[blocks B ] dev-tex/latex-beamer (is blocking app-text/tetex-3.0-r2)

The same was appearing in my old Gentoo system.

Why it does show up? Does that mean that tetex is not compatible with
latex-beamer anymore? If so then why I can install latex-beamer on top of tetex
without problems? What should I do with this? (I need working tex and
latex-beamer pretty often...)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

Comment 1 Arne Mejlholm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-06-11 13:20:27 UTC
I know for certain that Latex-beamer is included in the new version (3.0) of
tetex. I guess that this is why it is a blocker. I assume it is the same with
the others.

As far as I can tell, you should just unmerge the three packages. It works fine
for me...

If you have no objections, I would suggest marking this as INVALID
Comment 2 Grzegorz Kulewski 2005-06-11 13:31:40 UTC
Then why latex-beamer and others are not blocked from instaling when 3.0 is
installed? I think they should be blocked by dependency < tetex-3.0 or something...
Comment 3 Grzegorz Kulewski 2005-06-11 13:34:30 UTC
Or maybe virtual should be created for them that is provided by tetex-3.0 if
some not included (in tetex-3.0) package depends on them...
Comment 4 Arne Mejlholm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-06-11 13:39:08 UTC
Yes you're right. The matter of these packages being mutually blocking is
being (hopefully) resolved in bug #94815. Therefor I mark this as a duplicate
and advice that the discussion be taken to that bug.
