Description Dan Andresan 2005-05-12 05:34:59 UTC
The dvdrip developer says on dvdrip's site at http://www.exit1.org/dvdrip/
"2005/01/04
* ...
* Please note that transcode >= 0.6.13 is incompatible with dvd::rip 0.50.18, so upgrade dvd::rip to 0.52.0 if you want to use newer transcode releases."

latest stable gentoo transcode is 0.6.14-r2 as seen at http://gentoo-portage.com/media-video/transcode
latest stable dvdrip is 0.50.18 as seen at http://gentoo-portage.com/media-video/dvdrip

after an emerge -uDav world the user is left with a non-functional dvdrip.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge transcode dvdrip

Actual Results:
2. you'll get transcode 0.6.14-r2 and dvdrip 0.50.18
3. incompatible, per dvdrip's author. try to encode something to see the
results (reversed colors, etc)

Expected Results:
install compatible transcode and dvdrip versions

a version of dvdrip > 0.50.18 should be made stable in x86 and amd64

i reported it as critical, because it looses data... the output is not what
it's supposed to be, dvdrip is unusable.
