Description Louai Khanji 2005-04-10 18:03:16 UTC
Hi,
I've recently installed gentoo on my new amd64 system. I am using a mostly stable system, with some ~amd64 packages as needed, among them some of kde 3.4, using the split ebuilds. I am experiencing occasional crashes on exit with konqueror, especially after having had many tabs open in that konqueror window (~10-20).

Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Konqueror.
2. Browse around, open tabs.
3. Close all tabs except one.
4. Exit Konqueror.

Actual Results:
Konqueror crashed.

Expected Results:
Konqueror should happily close up.

This seems an X server problem, see here:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92903

Which version of xorg-x11 do you use? If you use kaffeine in konqueror, which version?
Comment 5 Louai Khanji 2005-04-11 02:46:29 UTC
Hi,

I do have kaffeine installed:
[ebuild R ] media-video/kaffeine-0.6-r1 +arts -debug -dvb +kdeenablefinal -xinerama 0 kB

And xorg-x11:
[ebuild R ] x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r1 (-3dfx) (-3dnow) +bitmap-fonts -cjk -debug -dlloader -dmx -doc +font-server -hardened -insecure-drivers -ipv6 -minimal (-mmx) +nls +opengl +pam -sdk (-sse) -static +truetype-fonts +type1-fonts (-uclibc) -xprint +xv 0 kB

However, in KDE bug #92903, the problem seems to happen with tabs open only, while I get it with all tabs closed (ie just one site open). I don't know if that is relevant.

In any case it only happens if I have had tabs open at some point, so it may be that kaffeine kicked in on one of those sites. I'll pay more attention to that.

Ok, this is almost surely a kaffeine problem, see here too:
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1158568&group_id=86937&atid=581406

I'm closing it as dup of bug 86797, in that bug I thought this problem was workarounded, but it seems it isn't so...
I don't think we can do much for it at this point, apart from suggesting you to try both kaffeine-0.6 and kaffeine-0.6-r1 in konqueror or standalone to see if you can find something useful...
