While resier4 may still be considered experimental, unsafe and generally absent from the kernel tree, many developers' trees (-mm, -ck) actually do have it. It is a pity when the newly-created partition is not recognized by GRUB.

Here is a patch made from
ftp://ftp.namesys.com/pub/reiser4progs/grub/LATEST_PATCH. The difference is
that this will apply cleanly to grub-0.96-r1 after all other patches are
applied.
