After upgrading to 1.2.10-r13 I am unable to add any urls to xmms to play. My uses flags for xmms are +mmx +oggvorbis +mikmod +alsa +sndfile +flac +mad +mp3 I am able to play mp3 files. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Similar to mine, i downgraded to 1.2.10-r5 now. xmms R13 could not play streams anymore. It kept the adresses in the playlist, but wasnt able to begin streaming. It played local files, though. I have a (long) strace protocol where i hoped to find some reasons, but didnt. emerge -info Portage 2.0.51.19 (default-linux/x86/2004.3, gcc-3.3.5, glibc-2.3.4.20040808-r1, 2.6.10-gentoo-r7 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.10-gentoo-r7 i686 AMD Athlon(TM) XP1700+ Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.4-r1 [2.3.4 (#2, Feb 7 2005, 13:16:05)] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4-r1 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.7.9-r1, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.4_p6, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.4 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.10-r4 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -funroll-loops -pipe -mcpu=athlon-xp -march=athlon-xp " CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -funroll-loops -pipe -mcpu=athlon-xp -march=athlon-xp " DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirror.schlund.de/gentoo http://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/mirrors/gentoo" MAKEOPTS=" -j1 " PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dfx 3dnow X aalib acl acpi alsa apache2 apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts cdr crypt cups curl dba debug directfb emboss encode esd fam flac flash font-server foomaticdb fortran gd gdbm gif glx gnome gpm gtk gtk2 icq imap imlib ipv6 java jikes jpeg junit kde ldap libg++ libwww mad matrox mbox mikmod mmx motif mozilla mp3 mpeg mysql nas ncurses nls nptl nvidia oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl php png python qt quicktime readline sdl slang spell ssl svga tcltk tcpd tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts usb vhosts videos www x86 xml xml2 xmms xv zlib video_cards_nvidia" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS
i had the same problem. after emerging xmms-mpg123 and disabling the mad plugin everything worked fine again. seems there is some problem with the mad plugin.
ok, streaming works now as before. I emerged xmms-mpg123 and upgraded xmms.
emerging xmms-mpg123 solved the problem I still need to disable mad plugin. If I dont i am unable to play any streams.
Also worked by emergeing: xmms-mpg123 I don't have to disable mad plugin to play streams!
marking invalid as it's not really an issue... just an unsupported feature of the mad plugin.
Should media-sound/xmms-mpg123 be added to the list of items printed in the warning after emerging xmms? After all, I was able to stream URLs before, but since upgrading I haven't been able to, so one of the plugins I had before must have been removed - I would guess xmms-mpg123 (I'll know as soon as I install it.)
