The Internet Communications Engine (Ice) is a modern alternative to object
middleware such as CORBA™ or COM/DCOM/COM+. Ice is easy to learn, yet provides
a powerful network infrastructure for demanding technical applications. Ice

Ebuild file for the CORBA replacement Ice version 2.1.1.
These C++ libraries are also needed by the Ice versions of other languages like
PHP, Python, Java etc.
