Description Jory A. Pratt 2005-02-10 21:15:49 UTC
when trying to update mailbase-0.00-r7 it collides with courier-imap

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -u mailbase (courier-imap has to be installed to get the collision)
2.
3.

Actual Results:
 * Checking for possible file collisions...
 * //etc/pam.d/pop3 exists and wasn't provided by mailbase
 * //etc/pam.d/imap exists and wasn't provided by mailbase

 * Those files listed above have to be removed in order to
 * install this version of mailbase.

 * If you edited them, remember to backup and when restoring make
 * sure the first line in each file is:
 * # Provided by mailbase (dont remove this line!)

Hi !

In future releases of courier-imap, courier-imap won't provide pam.d files to prevent multiple imap/pop servers to collide. Those versions will depend on mailbase-0.00-r7 which is not on ARCH but ~ARCH because of the potential collision with every imap/pop server providing pam.d files.

Anyway, if you remove those files then mailbase will emerge fine and your server will still work perfectly.

I'll get courier-imap maintainer to remove pam.d stuff and depend on mailbase-0.00-r7.

Thanks for your comprehension, but this is not actually a bug. Take a look at #79240 for more information.

Kind Regards,
Ferdy
