Description Chris Smith 2005-02-10 09:07:36 UTC
upgraded to kde-base/kdelibs-3.3.2-r3 on 2/8/05
attempted to install media-libs/libkipi-0.1.1 on 2/10/05
media-libs/libkipi-0.1.1 configure cr0aked on missing kdelibs
remerged kde-base/kdelibs-3.3.2-r3
media-libs/libkipi-0.1.1 installed fine

Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1.upgrad to kde-base/kdelibs-3.3.2-r3
2.
3.

Actual Results:
another package claimed kdelibs was missing

Expected Results:
kde-base/kdelibs-3.3.2-r3 should have installed correctly

relevant info from genlop:

     Tue Feb 8 18:28:21 2005 >>> kde-base/arts-1.3.2-r1
     Tue Feb 8 18:28:32 2005 >>> kde-base/kdebase-pam-4
     Tue Feb 8 19:25:33 2005 >>> kde-base/kdelibs-3.3.2-r3
     Tue Feb 8 20:24:08 2005 >>> kde-base/kdebase-3.3.2-r2

     Thu Feb 10 11:35:05 2005 >>> media-libs/libkipi-0.1.1

Until the remerge of kdelibs, libkipi would not configure.

It's difficult to guess what caused this; at least we should see the
config.log from the failed ./configure to figure it out...

Comment 3 Caleb Tennis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-10 11:36:25 UTC
I'm guessing what caused it was an upgrade to qt-3.3.4 without re-emerging kdelibs.
Comment 4 Caleb Tennis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-10 11:38:05 UTC
A bugzilla search of "UIC has KDE plugins available... no" will show numerous dups.
Comment 5 Chris Smith 2005-02-10 11:48:48 UTC
there was a qt upgrade - from genlop:

Wed Feb 9 22:18:04 2005 >>> x11-libs/qt-3.3.4-r2

but it was just from 3.3.4-r1 to 3.3.4-r2

there are no warnings suggesting that anything else needs to be recompiled
and revdep-rebuild suggested nothing either

is there anything else that should be recompiled after a minor qt upgrade?
Comment 6 Caleb Tennis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-10 11:53:24 UTC
I wouldn't expect it to be a problem (your upgrade), but perhaps the change in 3.3.4-r1 to 3.3.4-r2 (rpath change) caused a problem.

I'll check when I get home.
Comment 7 Chris Smith 2005-02-10 14:56:54 UTC
I just did the qt upgrade on my laptop and libkipi emerged without complaining.
No error about kdelibs missing. Can't imagine why it happened on my desktop.
Comment 8 Robert Breunung 2005-02-10 23:15:20 UTC
seems like the old source files extract too false dir and the deltas later don't find it

and to preverious comment

the kdelibs I also could emerge but all other packeges did not upgrade from beta1 -> beta2 with xdeltas
Comment 9 Dan Armak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-11 08:57:28 UTC
I think Robert's comment was meant for bug 81481
