actually postfix has the aliases file in /etc/mail but the hardcoded default is /etc/aliases, I've fixed this behaviour with a little patch. Now you can forget to add alias_database = hash:/etc/mail/aliases and alias_maps = hash:/etc/mail/aliases in main.cf Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. postfix-2.2.5 i stable on most. close this bug then.
