After emerging sys-apps/hdparm-5.8 there is no /etc/conf.d/hdparm file. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge =sys-apps/hdparm-5.8 2. 3. Actual Results: no /etc/conf.d/hdparm file Expected Results: previous behavior was to have an /etc/con.d/hdparm file I'm reporting this but have some doubt that it's an hdparm issue. I first noticed it on a fresh ~x86 installation, and was able to reproduce it on my main ~x86 box. I'm also seeing a few other strange things such as http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73563 which is occuring on my main box and a problem on the fresh install with openntpd not starting. It's possible that there's something very flaky in the current ~x86 but don't know how to go about troubleshooting it. Seems a bunch of strange things have been occuring with the advent of the autoconf-wrapper. # emerge info Portage 2.0.51-r8 (default-linux/x86/2004.3, gcc-3.4.3, glibc-2.3.4.20041102-r0, 2.6.9-gentoo-r9 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.9-gentoo-r9 i686 Pentium III (Coppermine) Gentoo Base System version 1.6.7 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.4 [2.3.4 (#1, Dec 8 2004, 09:23:45)] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6, 2.13 sys-devel/automake: 1.8.5-r2, 1.5, 1.4_p6, 1.6.3, 1.7.9, 1.9.3 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r1, 2.14.90.0.8-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.2-r7 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium3 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -s" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium3 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -s" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X alsa apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts crypt cups dvd encode f77 foomaticdb fortran gdbmgif gpm gtk2 imlib ithreads jpeg kde libg++ libwww mad mikmod motif mpeg ncurses nls nptl oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png python qt quicktime readline sdl spell ssl svga tcpd truetype x86 xml2 xmms xv zlib"
Link to the openntpd bug I refer to in the detail below: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73856
It's a bug in our doins script that prevents it from creating the /etc/conf.d directory.
