I've seen this on 1.2 and 1.4beta - I never saw it in kportagemaster. 
 
It usually happens when text in the right pane is wide and kportage tries to 
fit by expanding its main window horizontally.  Now my screen resolution is 
1280x1024 and it expands to at least double that width.
