Created attachment 45082 [details, diff] power-management-guide.diff Removed section about ncpufreqd - for some strange reason, I'm still thinking bug #45593 will be resolved soon. I'll create a new bugreport (another doc update with ncpufreqd and some other things) soon. This will be blocked by two other bugreports, thus the separation. Anyone knowing a better practice? :(
Not really; this is exactly why bugzilla's used. It tracks dependencies. I've pinged some of the mobile-developers wrt #45593, they'll put a status update on the bugreport. It currently comes down to the fact that it's not seen as production-ready. Perhaps you can update the update to reflect the use of PORTDIR_OVERLAY and use the files from that bugreport? With a <warn> that this is no recommended method since you're going to use an application and ebuilds that the Gentoo team don't feel as being production ready yet.
Created attachment 47385 [details, diff] power-management-guide.diff.txt the usual monthly update. Includes: - improved ACPI scripts - more rework on CPU section - more details on laptop-mode-tools installation - more details on swsusp2 installation - some minor fixes Excludes: - ncpufreqd and section on thermal management (bug #68953)
I was just told that /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/ACAD/state is another common location. Give me another day to include it in the ACPI scripts please.
Created attachment 47563 [details, diff] power-management-guide.diff Brings up another dependency :-/
Created attachment 47586 [details, diff] power-management-guide.diff Adding missing chmod+x for two scripts
Created attachment 47703 [details, diff] power-management-guide.diff Things changed once again and it looks like powermgmt-base doesn't find it's way into portage in the near future. I worked around that. Sorry for flooding your mailboxes in the last days ;)
Thanks, wonderful work! Committed.
