Description Andreas Kobara 2004-10-25 01:42:27 UTC
Todays portage snapshot 20041024 is only 900K in size, and will delete the whole
portage tree:

Number of files: 3705
Number of files transferred: 0
Total file size: 4218078 bytes
Total transferred file size: 0 bytes
Literal data: 0 bytes
Matched data: 0 bytes
File list size: 87500
Total bytes sent: 87553
Total bytes received: 20

sent 87553 bytes received 20 bytes 58382.00 bytes/sec
total size is 4218078 speedup is 48.17
cleaning up
transferring metadata/cache
skipping sync

>>> Updating Portage cache...  ...done!

/usr/lib/portage/bin/ebuild.sh: line 1319: /usr/portage/eclass/eutils.eclass: No such file or directory

!!! ERROR: sys-apps/portage-2.0.51_rc7 failed.
!!! Function inherit, Line 1320, Exitcode 1

The portage tree is now only 8000 files and completly destroyed.
This also confirms bug #25499 again !

Something about the upgrade to portage 2.0.51 is causing problems on the server that generates the snapshots. Ran the script manually and produced a new, fixed tarball that will propogate out to the mirrors shortly. Also made some adjustments to the script to hopefully not fail tomorrow.

 * An update to portage is available. It is _highly_ recommended
 * that you update portage now, before any other packages are updated.
 * Please do so and then update ALL of your configuration files.

*** Completed websync, please now perform a normal rsync if possible.
Update is current as of the of YYYYMMDD: 20041107

Cheers
Frank

Now it works again, with the 20041108 snapshot :-)
Will it occur for every revision of portage ?
