Description Andre Hinrichs 2004-10-08 13:23:10 UTC
Just installed version sys-kernel/gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.8-r7
I usually switch of the LCD display of my laptop by switching the video output.
With gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.8-r3 and prior this worked fine.
With gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.8-r7 the system immediately halts.
I switched back to -r3 and it's fine again.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Use laptop
2.install new gentoo-dev-sources
3.switch to other video output

Actual Results:
system halts

Expected Results:
disable LCD screen

What type of laptop is it?
Comment 2 Andre Hinrichs 2004-10-09 05:19:54 UTC
It's a Dell Inspiron 8000 with 512 MByte RAM, 27 GByte HD and 1600x1200 Screen
I'm compiling kernel with genkernel and boot via grub.
These are my kernel parameters:

root=/dev/ram0 real_root=/dev/hda4 init=/linuxrc hdc=ide-scsi vga=0x317 splash=verbose
Comment 3 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-09 05:59:41 UTC
99% sure that reverting the acpi "fix" will solve this
