This is weird... Do you have OUT_PWD or MAKEFILE or QMAKE_MAKEFILE set in your environment?

nothing special - straight tinderbox image setup (and although qt-4. is way old I reporeted it here b/c I never saw a sandbox issue AFAICT)

Actually, I believe this is a duplicate of bug 583808.
