Note: emerge --info shows clang as the compiler, however the build log and the environment are gcc

Comment 5 Jason Schulz 2015-12-19 15:37:51 UTC
I'm actually already aware of the method to report Funtoo bugs.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this orthogonal to the distro (e.g. the port is identical). In that case, wouldn't it also be an issue for people in Gentoo?

I know there are other instances where I've found/resolved bugs in Gentoo (https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=566692).
Comment 6 Ben Kohler gentoo-dev 2015-12-19 17:03:17 UTC
From http://www.funtoo.org/Reporting_Bugs :

"Upstream Bug Reporting

Please report all bugs to us first, so we are aware of the issue. We will handle reporting bugs to upstream projects, including to Gentoo Linux."
Comment 7 Jason Schulz 2015-12-19 17:57:17 UTC
Is Gentoo refusing to accept bugs (fixes, etc...) from Funtoo users?

Please note, I do report bugs to Funtoo.
Comment 8 Ben Kohler gentoo-dev 2015-12-19 17:58:57 UTC
Please reproduce the issue on gentoo then attach those logs
Comment 9 Jason Schulz 2015-12-19 18:22:23 UTC
Ben, I'll try to set up a Gentoo VM instance on my laptop.
Comment 10 Jason Schulz 2015-12-20 02:34:31 UTC
FYI, This looks like either a compiler issue with GCC (4.9.3) or a bug in PyPy's code that architecture specific optimization exposes (ivybrige in this case). I was able to fix the build by stripping the architecture flag from CFLAGS.

I think I've seen a couple other similar bugs/fixes. It might save people some grief if CFLAGS could be sanitized in the ebuild by default (custom-cflags use flag?).
