xfce4-sensors-plugin should depend on nvidia-drivers[tools] and not on media-video/nvidia-settings. nvidia-settings doesn't have the same update frequency as nvidia-drivers and is not needed if nvidia-drivers are build with USE=tools. * dependency graph for xfce-extra/xfce4-sensors-plugin-1.2.5 `-- xfce-extra/xfce4-sensors-plugin-1.2.5 amd64 [...] `-- media-video/nvidia-settings-340.58 (media-video/nvidia-settings) amd64 [...] * dependency graph for xfce-extra/xfce4-sensors-plugin-1.2.6 `-- xfce-extra/xfce4-sensors-plugin-1.2.6 amd64 [...] `-- media-video/nvidia-settings-340.58 (media-video/nvidia-settings) amd64 [...]
Unfortunately without video_cards_nvidia USEFLAG no GPU sensor is available with xfce4-sensors-plugin (nvidia-drivers with tools installed), so I don't know if my description for nvidia-settings dependency issue does fit in its way (ebuild) to solve it to have GPU sensors regardless of dependency, so it might be an upstream issue?! AFAIK nvidia-settings is used to query the sensor(s) and then have the value available for further processing.
