Running: emerge -u iptables seems to go on correctly. etc-update sais that trivial changes have been automerged and that's all. However after finishing the emerge process iptables does not seem to work at all. For instance an attempt to run: iptables-save ends with a message 'command not found' My system is as the following: Athlon 64 - 3200 MSI - NEO 1 GB RAM - GEIL PC 400 I have 2 installations of Gentoo on 2 separate drives (well- I must admit I also have a Windoze installation on the third drive however I boot into it very rarely - only when I absolutely have to check something in a native mode - once a month or so:-). One of the Gentoo installations is ~x86 the other one ~amd64. This bug report pertains to the former - I have not tried it with the 64 bit installation yet. Currently I am running the 2.6.7-gentoo-r8 kernel. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. # emerge -u iptables 2. # etc-update 3. # iptables-save Actual Results: I go the error message: bash: iptables-save: command not found Expected Results: Shoud have displayed the current iptables rule set. Reverting to iptables-1.2.9-r4 solves the problem. That e-build works OK Please note that the bug is very critical as it may expose someone's system to hacker attacks.
