As explained at bug 484242 and referenced bugs, we would like to kill cpufrequtils, but seems that mate-applets now need it... or is it due an automagic dep? Thanks
https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-applets/issues/47#issuecomment-42775950 :D I'll try to see if I can apply the patch (see URL) later today; as for making it optional rather than mandatory, dunno if that would work out well for this pkg. But making things optional is definitely something I should look into for MATE...

Straight to stable for 1.6.2-r1, given that the patch is a trivial name change. Thank you very much for filing this bug.
Doesn't work here. Build failure because of missing -lcpufreq . I see that the patch changes configure.ac, but doesn't make the equivalent changes in configure, and the ebuild doesn't call eautoconf. Is that supposed to work? (If it is, I can try to debug it a little more)
Same here, had to add eautoreconf (and inherit autotools) to make it build
