Hello, 19 of 58 mirrors in the 'fedora-dev' mirror group in profiles/thirdpartymirrors file are no longer valid mirrors. These were checked as part of an analysis of all third party mirror lists. The dead mirrors should probably be removed, and there may be a more up to date mirror list upstream that can be used. Here is a status of all 'fedora-dev' mirrors: good: http://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/fedora/linux good: http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/fedora/linux bad: http://mirror.pacific.net.au/linux/fedora/linux bad: http://ftp.belnet.be/linux/fedora/linux bad: http://gulus.usherbrooke.ca/pub/distro/fedora/linux good: http://sunsite.mff.cuni.cz/MIRRORS/fedora.redhat.com/linux good: http://ftp.fi.muni.cz/pub/linux/fedora/linux good: http://mirror.karneval.cz/pub/linux/fedora/linux good: http://ftp-stud.hs-esslingen.de/pub/fedora/linux good: http://fedora.tu-chemnitz.de/pub/linux/fedora/linux good: http://ftp.uni-bayreuth.de/linux/fedora/linux good: ftp://ftp.uni-bayreuth.de/pub/linux/fedora/linux bad: http://www.jur-linux.org/download/fedora bad: http://ftp.crc.dk/fedora/linux bad: ftp://ftp.crc.dk/pub/mirrors/fedora/linux bad: http://ftp.cica.es/fedora/linux good: http://ftp.funet.fi/pub/mirrors/fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux good: ftp://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/fedora.redhat.com/fedora/linux good: http://mirrors.ircam.fr/pub/fedora/linux good: ftp://ftp.proxad.net/mirrors/fedora.redhat.com/fedora/linux good: http://ftp.lip6.fr/ftp/pub/linux/distributions/fedora bad: http://fr2.rpmfind.net/linux/fedora good: ftp://ftp.ciril.fr/pub/linux/fedora/linux good: http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux good: ftp://ftp.mirrorservice.org/sites/download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux good: ftp://ftp.otenet.gr/pub/linux/fedora/linux good: http://ftp.rhnet.is/pub/fedora/linux good: http://ftp.iij.ad.jp/pub/linux/fedora good: http://ftp.yz.yamagata-u.ac.jp/pub/linux/fedora/linux good: http://ftp.SURFnet.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/fedora/linux good: ftp://ftp.tudelft.nl/pub/Linux/download.fedora.redhat.com/linux good: ftp://alviss.et.tudelft.nl/pub/fedora/linux good: ftp://ftp.pbone.net/pub/fedora/linux good: http://ftp.ps.pl/pub/Linux/fedora-linux bad: http://sunsite.icm.edu.pl/pub/Linux/fedora/linux good: http://mirror.yandex.ru/fedora/linux bad: http://ftp.chg.ru/pub/Linux/fedora/linux good: http://ftp.upjs.sk/pub/fedora/linux bad: ftp://ftp.linux.org.tr/pub/fedora/linux good: http://fedora.mirror.iweb.ca bad: http://limestone.uoregon.edu/ftp/fedora/linux bad: ftp://limestone.uoregon.edu/fedora/linux good: ftp://mirror.cs.princeton.edu/pub/mirrors/fedora/linux good: http://mirror.cc.vt.edu/pub/fedora/linux good: http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora bad: ftp://ftp.applios.net/pub/fedora/linux good: http://mirror.linux.duke.edu/pub/fedora/linux bad: http://mirror.hiwaay.net/pub/fedora/linux bad: http://linux.nssl.noaa.gov/fedora/linux bad: http://www.gtlib.gatech.edu/pub/fedora.redhat/linux good: ftp://ftp.gtlib.gatech.edu/pub/fedora.redhat/linux good: http://ftp.linux.ncsu.edu/pub/fedora/linux bad: http://kdeforge.unl.edu/mirrors/fedora/linux good: http://mirrors.cat.pdx.edu/fedora/linux good: http://mirrors.usc.edu/pub/linux/distributions/fedora/linux good: ftp://ftp.cse.buffalo.edu/pub/Linux/fedora/linux bad: ftp://fedora.bu.edu good: http://fedora.mirrors.tds.net/pub/fedora Thanks!
Upstream's mirror list is here (at least, I think it's the right one): http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/publiclist/Fedora/development/ This is a pretty massive list, but I can get it tested & formatted for inclusing in thirdpartymirrors if that's what we want. A few questions though: -Should we bother including mirrors with <=10mbits of bandwidth? -The majority of these have both http & ftp available for the same server, should we include both? -Is there really much to gain in having a mirror list so big? Anything more than 10 mirrors, is there really any advantage? Just seems to make for a bigger maintenance burden.
Now that I do real file tests, I don't think any of the packages using mirror://fedora-dev/ actually still have their files still on these fedora-dev mirrors. It's all from old fedora releases (9, 15, 16) that have been purged from the mirrors. Is this mirror group even worth keeping around? Here are the ebuilds still using fedora-dev (even though the distfiles don't really exist on those mirrors): sys-apps/hwdata-redhat-0.217 SRC_URI=mirror://fedora-dev/releases/9/Everything/source/SRPMS/hwdata-0.217-1.fc9.src.rpm dev-python/rhpl-0.219 SRC_URI=mirror://fedora-dev/development/source/SRPMS/rhpl-0.219-2.src.rpm app-arch/pax-3.4.12.16 SRC_URI=mirror://fedora-dev/releases/16/Everything/source/SRPMS/pax-3.4-12.fc16.src.rpm x11-themes/lovelock-backgrounds-14.91.1.1 SRC_URI=mirror://fedora-dev/releases/15/Fedora/source/SRPMS/lovelock-backgrounds-14.91.1-1.fc15.src.rpm x11-themes/verne-backgrounds-15.91.0.1 SRC_URI=mirror://fedora-dev/development/16/source/SRPMS/verne-backgrounds-15.91.0-1.fc16.src.rpm x11-themes/solar-backgrounds-0.92.0.5 SRC_URI=mirror://fedora-dev/development/15/source/SRPMS/solar-backgrounds-0.92.0-5.fc15.src.rpm x11-themes/laughlin-backgrounds-14.1.0.3 SRC_URI=mirror://fedora-dev/development/15/source/SRPMS/laughlin-backgrounds-14.1.0-3.fc15.src.rpm x11-themes/constantine-backgrounds-12.1.1.4 SRC_URI=mirror://fedora-dev/development/15/source/SRPMS/constantine-backgrounds-12.1.1-4.fc15.src.rpm x11-themes/leonidas-backgrounds-11.0.0.2 SRC_URI=mirror://fedora-dev/development/15/source/SRPMS/leonidas-backgrounds-11.0.0-2.fc12.src.rpm x11-themes/goddard-backgrounds-13.0.0.3 SRC_URI=mirror://fedora-dev/development/15/source/SRPMS/goddard-backgrounds-13.0.0-3.fc15.src.rpm
