hi,

e.g. the xcursor ebuilds will be installed in /usr/share/cursors/xfree even when i use xorg-x11. other ebuilds will probably have the same issue.

Hmmm...

Xorg-x11 will work with xfree, I can see the point in it being something like x11, but catching all the apps and patching them would be a long task.

Spyderous your the one with the path change ideas what do you think?

See the ati-drivers-3.7.6-r1 for a fix. I just enhanced the fix a little bit, so make sure your CVS is updated. And yeah, every ebuild that does this needs to get fixed. There actually haven't been that many, and the cursors in particular already have an open bug.
