When booting a thin rootfs via an initrd created with sys-kernel/dracut-034-r1 multiple shared library errors are displayed. These errors do not occur when using an initrd created with sys-kernel/dracut-027-r3

but libstdc++.so.6 is on mount point /usr , which was mounted by dracut.

I'm not so sure. On my system /usr is mounted by initramfs.

If you haven't explicitly enabled usrmount module, then it is 100% not included in initramfs. Please try the patch attached to bug 489624.
