if use this recomandation: Option "XkbRules" "xfree86" Option "XkbModel" "pc105" Option "XkbLayout" "ru" Option "XkbVariant" "winkeys" Option "XkbOptions" "grp:caps_toggle,grp_led:caps" u cant change language to eng solution change line: Option "XkbLayout" "ru" to Option "XkbLayout" "us, ru"
I'd suggest this addition to main english documentation as well. With perhaps short description of multiple keymaps.
We could add two layouts to snippet from the xorg.conf (in both xorg-config and guide-localization docs). Let's say: Option "XkbLayout" "us,de" And tell users to switch between them with alt-shift, just like it's described in http://www.xfree86.org/current/XKB-Config2.html (xorg and xfree configuration files are compatible, aren't they?) The only problem is that it doesn't seem to be enough (or isn't enough to work on my computer). Does anyone has any ideas what else you need to add to xorg.conf to make the above settings work?
Maybe somebody from X11 herd knows how to set this up?
It was fixed with all the changes made in #113885. Solution (thanks to jakub for this info) was to set two layouts this way: Option "XkbLayout" "us,de" Option "XkbOptions" "grp:alt_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll" And then switch between them using alt-shift combination in xorg. All the information necessary to do it is now in english version of guide-localization. Feel free to switch "de" to "ru" in xorg.conf in russian translation. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 113885 ***
