Description Juergen Rose 2013-01-30 10:41:08 UTC
'emerge -pvuDN world' fails with:

root@impala:/usr/src(29)# emerge -pvuND world

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

!!! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled
!!! into the dependency graph, resulting in a slot conflict:

app-misc/pax-utils:0

  (app-misc/pax-utils-0.6::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
    (no parents that aren't satisfied by other packages in this slot)

  (app-misc/pax-utils-0.5::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
    <app-misc/pax-utils-0.6 required by (sys-kernel/genkernel-3.4.45::gentoo, installed)

It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in
the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can
not be installed simultaneously. You may want to try a larger value of
the --backtrack option, such as --backtrack=30, in order to see if
that will solve this conflict automatically.

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man
page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "media-fonts/freefont-ttf".
(dependency required by "sci-libs/plplot-5.9.9-r1[truetype]" [installed])
(dependency required by "dev-perl/PDL-2.4.11[plplot]" [installed])
(dependency required by "@selected" [set])
(dependency required by "@world" [argument])

It seems that media-fonts/freefont-ttf has moved to media-fonts/freefont:

http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/media-fonts/freefont-ttf/?hideattic=0

But no dependencies in other packages have been updated. I have hit this with dev-util/gource-0.38.

can confirm this. its not possible to emerge the package:

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies                   ... done!

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "media-fonts/freefont-ttf".
(dependency required by "dev-util/gource-0.38" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "gource" [argument])
