econf fails with

...
checking whether gcc accepts -mpreferred-stack-boundary=4... yes
checking whether the stack is correctly aligned by gcc... no
checking whether gcc accepts -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2... no
configure: error: can't disable buggy stack alignment

!!! ERROR: dev-libs/fftw-2.1.5 failed.
!!! Function econf, Line 365, Exitcode 1
!!! econf failed

On the other hand, running ./configure manually succeeds (as the following compilation & tests & installation do as well).
