Description Robert Cabrera 2013-01-17 07:10:55 UTC
I'm a truck driving geek, but not a programmer. Long story short: I read on Gentoo front page today about the upcoming switch from ffmpeg to libav so I thought I'd get a jump on things.

I successfully removed ffmpeg and installed libav in it's place. Oddly though portage didn't complain about preserved-libs and no output from revdep-rebuild, but just to be safe I rebuilt all apps depending on it anyhow. Then I logged out and tested my video and audio apps and all seemed to work fine.

I then resynced portage and updated it, dev-libs/libcdio-0.90 and eselect-cdparanoia were among the packages pulled into the cue. After the emerge portage complained about preserved libs. Several packages required rebuilding including vlc and libav-0.8.5.

Vlc emerged with no problems, however libav refuses to emerge. If I downgrade libcdio back to version 0.83 then libav-0.8.5 builds and installs as expected.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerege -1 libav
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Build fails shortly after beginning to compile with this output:

Expected Results:
Successful emerge.

My battery is dying I'll up load logs later

ffmpeg is fixed so you'll have to backport from there, not intrested in libav myself
Comment 6 Luca Barbato gentoo-dev 2013-01-17 11:29:41 UTC
Fixed in portage, in few hours should be available. Thanks for reporting.
