ati-drivers-12.6-k-3.7.0.patch

ati-drivers-12.6_beta_pre897 does not compile with kernel 3.7.x x=0 / 1
It needs a patch (attached) which replaces VM_RESERVED bu VM_IO.

Why would you want to use 12.6_beta_pre897 and not something newer?

12.6_beta_pre897 is the last version to support legacy Radeon hardware older than HD5000.

Please reopen this bug again. It's NOT a duplicate of 448216.
Even with the additional patch of 448216
12.6_beta_pre897 does NOT compile for my gentoo-sources-3.7.x
without the patch I have attached.

Helmut.

You did notice that I reopened this bug and you just marked it as duplicate again?

Sorry, this was by accident. Probably the problem exists with 12.6_beta_pre897
only but not with 12.11_beta11.
Helmut.

Greetings, can you try ati-drivers in x11-overlay, I added there the same patch we use for the non-legacy branch. It at least compiles for me, but I can't runtime test it trivially.
Comment 7 Fabio Rossi 2012-12-28 15:00:20 UTC
The problem was already solved with the patch in the tree (ati-drivers-vm-reserverd.patch), with the last commit the patch was removed from the ebuild, see the diff

http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/x11-drivers/ati-drivers/ati-drivers-12.6_beta_pre897.ebuild?r1=1.8&r2=1.9

So the solution is quite easy, just renable the missing line from the ebuild

Several changes that were made to ati-drivers ebuild but not pushed to x11 overlay got lost. I tried to re-unify the ebuilds.
