When I try to "emerge mp3splt-2.2.8", compilation fails with the following error message:

I have been using mp3splt-2.2.8 since Sep 4 2010. But today mp3splt failed to split my mp3. :(

During my last "emerge -va -uND world" on Dez 6 2012, media-libs/libmp3splt was updated from 0.5.9 to 0.7.3.

My last successful use of mp3splt was on Dez 2 2012. So I guess, mp3splt-2.2.8 is not compatible with media-libs/libmp3splt-0.7.3. But today's stable configuration wants to install those two versions.

I just tried the currently unstable verion media-sound/mp3splt-2.4.3:
Compiles and works fine with media-libs/libmp3splt-0.7.3.

So I think there should be added a blocker to media-sound/mp3splt-2.2.8.ebuild which forbids >=media-libs/libmp3splt-2.4.

=media-sound/mp3splt-2.4.3 should have gone stable at the same time.

0.7.3 is the first version causing trouble, mp3splt 2.2.8 builds fine with libmp3splt versions 0.5.9, 0.7, 0.7.0.920, 0.7.1, 0.7.2.

The approach I have taken to address this issue is:

 1. Update the dependency of mp3splt 2.2.8:

      -RDEPEND=">=media-libs/libmp3splt-0.5.9"
      +RDEPEND="<media-libs/libmp3splt-0.7.3"

    Since 0.5.9 is the oldest version of libmp3splt in Gentoo,
    that should work fine.

 2. I have remove the following ebuilds:

      * mp3splt-2.4.1.ebuild
      * mp3splt-2.4.2.ebuild
      * mp3splt-2.4.ebuild
