This patch correct the inclusion of freetype. Without it, pango will not compile with freetype-2.1.7

hmm this patch doesnt seem to work for me for the pango 1.4.0 ebuild. 
maybe i did something wrong in including the patch to the ebuild?
i did just added epatch ${FILESDIR}/pango-1.2.5-freetype-compat.patch to the 1.4.0 ebuild.

hmm it seems your patch does not work for pango 1.4.0 ???
i just copied the patch inside the files directory and added the needed epatch line to the ebuild, but on building the package the patch does not work (missing files, hunks failed...)

this patch isn't needed for pango 1.4

Since pango 1.4 builds fine with latest freetype, should i close the bug or should i wait for pango-1.4 being in stable ?

you should, all <1.4 versions have now been removed. That fixes this one.
