Description Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-07-13 10:10:28 UTC
This is only a result of quick find and grep. This one file from lvm2 package is including hardcoded paths to some of the module-init-tools/kmod binaries.

This may, or may not be a problem. Please verify and close the bug accordingly.

/usr/sbin/lvm2create_initrd:    BINFILES="$BINFILES /sbin/modprobe /sbin/insmod /sbin/rmmod"

>=kmod-9-r1 installs to /usr/bin/

kmod is now installed to / instead of /usr but the symlinks in /sbin to /bin/kmod are only for backwards compability

as in, lvm2 shouldn't be hardcoding the paths in any case

I'll take this upstream. The package is fine in tree currently.
