The new ebuild has removed the packaged libpng12.so.0 but has not added a dependency on that slotted ebuild. Most systems today have only libpng-1.5 installed. Dropbox doesn't display its try icon without libpng-1.2 being installed.

I experienced the same problem. emerge -av1 libpng:1.2 solved the missing tray icon issue.

I readded all deps. I got another report, that it works without libpng:1.2. Sorry for the inconvenience.
