I just unbundled all libraries, python modules and the python interpreter from SpiderOak. It seems to still work... Patch attached. Suggesting revision r1 so people can easily switch back and forth in case it does not still work. Reproducible: Always

I agree with this approach which I adopted in the proposed ebuild for the bump in bug #398313. However, you don't need dev-lang/python and dev-python/pycurl. But I'm going to test my stripped down deps thoroughly! I've got a pristine minimal vm and I'll see if I missed anything.

This is done in spideroak-bin-4.2.9913.ebuild with USE="system-libs" and should be carried forward. See bug #398313
