I am also affected by this, and would prefer to keep this opened to remember to handle this before stabling gtk+-2.24.7 in the (near) future Where should I report this? (I only use opera from time to time and not know much about its development) Should I try with "opera-next" before reporting?

As I've just, I happen to have a system here that exhibits the problem. I have filed an upstream bug report [reference shown on the whiteboard] and sent the crash logs /var/log/crash* to same. Workaround through Opera itself is in the [URL]. Of course that doesn't help when it crashes at startup so you'd have to edit the file mentioned there instead of using opera:config.
This is fixed with gtk+-2.24.8-r1
