Description Sergey Popov gentoo-dev 2011-08-14 05:30:42 UTC
When watching video(this happens with different videos, of course) in mplayer(old and mplayer2, does not matter) with ass subtitles in it, there can be a situation when mplayer crashes(in certain places of video) with following error message:

MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: filter video
- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and
  disassembly. Details in DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports_what.html#bugreports_crash.
- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your
gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read
DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and
won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug.

Recompilation with different optimization flags(i use "-O2 -march=native -pipe") and different USE flags was not help. But when i disable using libass in mplayer, crashes are gone. After that, i compile libass-0.9.13, and when i try to watch video with it, there are no more crashes.

P.S. Maybe bug is amd64-specific, i am not sure...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have media-video/mplayer(or media-video/mplayer2) with libass support installed
2. Have =media-video/libass-0.9.11 installed
3. Try to watch some videos with ass subtitles(on certain video bug is not reproducable, do not know why)
Actual Results:
Mplayer crashes

Expected Results:
Video must be played fine

I think I have the same problem - ass subtitles in mkv container, Mplayer and Mplayer2 crash.
Comment 2 Alexander 2011-08-14 07:18:42 UTC
Thanks, updated libass to 0.9.13 and Mplayer2 started normally play the files.

You are welcome. Please tell me, what is your arch? As i say earlier, i am not sure, maybe this bug is amd64-specific(i have no computer with x86-gentoo, therefore i can not test that fact)

Both computers are x86. For fun, decided to test the second computer, where the problem is not noticed. Install libass-0.9.12, avi file, and external subtitles ass - mplayer2 randomly crash.
