I can confirm this bug, it appeared after I have upgraded x11-base/xorg-server-1.9.5 to x11-base/xorg-server-1.10.2. Kernel 2.6.38-gentoo-r6 was upgraded and a recompile of the intel driver didn't solve the problem. Session 'Log Out' works, but 'Shut Down' doesn't. After recompiling most of the X and Xfce4 components at least slim comes up again.

I can confirm this. Segfault with xf86-video-intel-{2.14.0,2.15.0-r1} on shutdown from xfce. But on my other machine with xf86-video-nouveau-0.0.16_pre20110323, everything works fine, so I guess the problem is related to the combination of xorg-server and xf86-video-intel.
Works for me again with x11-base/xorg-server-1.10.3.

Upgrade x11-base/xorg-server to ~arch (1.10.3) seems to fix this bug also for me.
Closing as per Comment #12 and Comment #13 If anyone can reproduce this bug with latest xf86-video-intel, xorg-server, and xfdesktop (all ~ərch), then please reopen the bug.
