Description Marek Kozlowski 2011-06-26 08:11:44 UTC
Worked fine for a very long time. Changed after some quite recent upgrades (I suppose: an X.Org upgrade). For a very short time I had this issue under ArchLinux some time ago but it was quickly fixed.
# emerge `qlist -I -C x11-drivers`
nor changing intel video driver version doesn't help.

Both 2.14.0 and 2.15-r1.

Maybe something with KVM? Tha same when I press "Logout" ("close the X session"). But I haven't changed my kernel for a long time...

Gee! KMS of course ;-)
Comment 5 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2011-06-28 20:58:10 UTC
Does the problem also exist with kernel 2.6.39?

The same with 2.6.29-r2
The same with xf86-video-ati (I have two cards although I don't use on-line switching -- I set a single one in BIOS).
The upgrade that caused the regression in the attachment (from /var/log/emerge.log).

The upgrade that caused the problem
Comment 8 Marius Brehler 2011-06-30 19:12:08 UTC
I can confirm this bug, it appeared after I have upgraded x11-base/xorg-server-1.9.5 to x11-base/xorg-server-1.10.2. Kernel 2.6.38-gentoo-r6 was upgraded and a recompile of the intel driver didn't solve the problem.

Session 'Log Out' works, but 'Shut Down' doesn't. After recompiling most of the X and Xfce4 components at least slim comes up again.
Comment 9 Marius Brehler 2011-06-30 19:54:59 UTC
This seems to be related to https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7442 and https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361571
Comment 10 Christoph Junghans (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-07-17 14:48:39 UTC
I can confirm this.

Segfault with xf86-video-intel-{2.14.0,2.15.0-r1} on shutdown from xfce.

But on my other machine with xf86-video-nouveau-0.0.16_pre20110323, everything works fine, so I guess the problem is related to the combination of xorg-server and xf86-video-intel.
Comment 11 Christoph Junghans (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-07-17 15:03:22 UTC
Works for me again with x11-base/xorg-server-1.10.3.

I've got the same bug while logout (closing XFce-session not always first time) on current amd64 system (x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.14.0).
Upgrade x11-base/xorg-server to ~arch (1.10.3) seems to fix this bug also for me.

Closing as per Comment #12 and Comment #13

If anyone can reproduce this bug with latest xf86-video-intel, xorg-server, and xfdesktop (all ~ərch), then please reopen the bug.

That should read "Closing as per Comment #11 and Comment #12". Sorry about the typing error.
