Does it help to rebuild dev-db/mysql?
Comment 4 DamianChan 2011-05-26 01:53:40 UTC
Not at all....

I did rebuild the MySQL form source.
I did emerge -e world.

And I still get the same result.

As I can't down grade the glibc, I have to replace the OS disk which loaded
with the old version glibc.

Note: This is a LAMP server and after glibc upgrade, only the MySQL didn't work!
Comment 5 Martin Gebert 2011-05-29 20:09:35 UTC
Same problem here with glibc 2.12.2 and mysql 5.0.33 on x86. I found the following thread about this problem on Ubuntu:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eglibc/+bug/672352

I'll try downgrading to glibc 2.11.3 and report back if it works.
Comment 6 Martin Gebert 2011-05-29 20:11:26 UTC
OK, I didn't get far with that:

 * Messages for package sys-libs/glibc-2.11.3:
 * Sanity check to keep you from breaking your system:
 * Downgrading glibc is not supported and a sure way to destruction
 * ERROR: sys-libs/glibc-2.11.3 failed (setup phase):
 * aborting to save your system

Any ideas?
Comment 7 Kevin Vigor 2011-05-31 14:22:33 UTC
Is mysql being statically linked? If so, try dynamic link (remove 'static' use flag).
Comment 8 DamianChan 2011-06-01 05:56:51 UTC
Same result with or without statically linked.

Noted: I event try the 5.0.92 and got the same result.
Comment 9 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2011-07-12 04:12:53 UTC
you need to re-emerge all your static binaries after the glibc-2.12 upgrade
