Samba 3.6pre2 is out now. It would be nice if Gentoo had an ebuild so a) we could test this pre release version b) we could have an ebuild for the final version when it's out Proposed release dates for future Samba 3.6 versions are: -Samba 3.6.0pre3 for Tuesday, April 26 and -Samba 3.6.0rc1 for Tuesday, May 17. (Source: http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2011-March/076975.html) So a final might come this summer so then at the latest an ebuild would be needed :-) --- 12 April 2011 - Samba 3.6.0pre2 Available for Download This is a preview of the next upgrade production release version of Samba. It is intended for testing purposes only. Please test and report any bugs that you find. Please read the changes in the Release Notes for details on new features and difference in behavior from previous releases. Reproducible: Always

samba-3.6.0_rc2 in portage, thanks to Robert Piasek <dagger@gentoo.org>
Thank you very much, the ebuild worked fine for me (on x64). Took me some time to get the new dependencies to compile, but the samba rc2 ebuild itself worked outright. Thanks again, finally I can test the SMB2 protocol :-)
