And before anyone asks, adding -mabi=altivec or -maltivec has no difference here.
Unless I'm missing something, johntheripper-1.7.6-cflags.patch is just a collection of typos.

Nice catch Rafał and thanks for applying Dane but unfortunately this has no effect on the end result. Still fails the same way.
Removed the altivec use flag in 1.7.6-r1 as the issue is almost certainly upstream. I will be contacting them. Should build fine on ppc/ppc64 now. Thanks for all the help Samuli.
