Hello, I guess since nedit 5.4 is still in rc2 it's to early to ask for an ebuild, however, when building it manually in /usr/local, nedit refuses to build against both openmotif-2.2.2 and all lesstif versions available in Gentoo. Also referes to these URLs: http://www.motifdeveloper.com/tips/tip22.html http://www.motifdeveloper.com/tips/Motif22Review.pdf Could Gentoo please stay away from "highest-version-is-always-best" (QA please) and use versions that are compatible with current programs? For nedit that would be openmotif-2.1.30 -- but for some reason that is updated continously to 2.2.2 because certain packages explicitely ask for 2.2.2 -- and also by world updates. Lesstif still overwrites most of openmotif -- as discovered in the opera bug a veeery long time ago. Thanks.
this bug speaks of the issue with nedit and Motif clones : http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27606 (issue did not change since RC1)
we are currently trying to solve this situation *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 29388 ***
Ummm, I don't want to offend anyone, but at this rate, it will be a very looong time until a solution to 29388 is found. A solution to a problem that continues to exist for more than 14 months now. A problem that shouldn't have passed basic QA in the first place. Thanks.
