While I'm not 100% sure, this looks vaguely similar to a problem recently fixed in boost 1.45.0 - see bug 351998.

same with pokerth-0.8.3
Fixed by removing -std=gnu++0x that does not like to dev-libs/boost-1.42. When a newer version of boost will stabilize, we could remove the patch and depends on that new version. Thanks for report
