Description Dennis Schridde 2010-11-24 09:41:09 UTC
When I compile sys-kernel/hardened-sources-2.6.32-r2[67] using sys-devel/gcc-4.5.1 the kernel will reproducibly oops at boot. Kernel config and boot output attached.

Reproducible: Always

Reproducible with sys-kernel/openvz-sources-2.6.27.7.1:2.6.27-levitan.1, too.

P.S: The pointers mentioned in the boot log are also the same on the 2.6.27 OpenVZ kernel.
Comment 5 Dennis Schridde 2010-12-22 14:47:47 UTC
Adjusting Summary to reflect that OpenVZ crashes as well.
Comment 6 Dennis Schridde 2011-01-27 21:53:51 UTC
gcc-4.5.2 has the same issues.

Might or might not have something to do with bug #318215, which is also about crashing lowlevel code (Grub 2 in that case). But that happens on x86 as well, hence the "might not".
Comment 7 Dennis Schridde 2012-04-09 14:15:50 UTC
Appears fixed with 4.5.3. I vaguely remember there to be an upstream bug about it, but I can't find it for reference at this time. Please reopen if you find the issue not to be fixed.
