I'm getting the error below when compiling alsa-tools HDSPMixerCard.h:28:24: sound/hdsp.h: No such file or directory Apparently hdsp.h is only in kernel 2.6 according to locate. So, I assume I also need a 2.6 kernel compiled in order to actually use alsa >= 0.9.8. Why isn't there an einfo line which tells me this, or can't the ebuild check my "uname -r" string and see if there is a 2.6 in it before compiling!
Hi, The 2.6 kernel is not required to build this. I think the 0.9.8 Alsa from CVS is not including the HDSPMixer app, and possibly some support files. There was some discussion of this on the Aalsa-devel lists. The 0.9.8 release was a bit messed up and there were some later patches to add this back in. This needs to be addressed by the alsa ebuild maintainer I think. The HDSPMixer app can be obtained from Thomas Charbonnel, or possibly elsewhere, and then included.
Should alsa-tools and any other applicable alsa ebuild be marked ~x86 then, since they don't work?
